Cover of Target Magazine 1988 Annual Issue (June) It's a copy that a cousin brother of mine owns. Years ago, I discovered this wonderful magazine only thanks to him. I was too young, about seven, when I first laid my hand on it. I never owned a single copy, my cousin used to do the buying. By the time I decided it was time for me to buy my first copy, the publishers had called quit on the magazine. Yes I did buy a copy of Teens Today. But never again. On the cover image above, one can see Granny, Gardhab Das, Detective Moochwala with his Pooch and many other characters that made this magazine special . -0- Related post: Cherry Blossom ad featuring Gavaskar from this magazine -0- Update: Apr 23, 2014 Rama shared April 1988 issue of Target Magazine
Its nice to see young Lalita Pawar pictures as we have always seen her in old age character roles.
ReplyDeleteAs the matter of fact Lalita or 'Ambu',as she was fondly called, was not a bit hesitant to accept glamorous and exposing roles even in 1930-40.
I remember very well to have read somewhere that she played triple role in a movie perhaps in 'Himmate Marda' itself.
Personally i would like to see articles at your blog supported by detailed and/or informative writeup along with these sort of vintage pictures.
....and yeah,i want to ask a quiz about her.Lalita Pawar career as a heroine came to an abrupt end when while shooting for a movie in 1942 she was supposed to be slapped by a well know hero/actor of those times in a scene and accidentally the slap landed so hard on her that her left eye got squinted which make her looks very natural and befitting while playing wicked mother in law.
ReplyDeleteCan any one tell who was that actor who slapped Lalita in that scene.
Bhagwan Das
DeleteShe was slapped by Bhagwan Dada. She was taken to a doctor who gave her a wrong injection...that eventually led to the problems. I actually like having these conversations in comments :)
ReplyDeleteA great artist to miss dearly...no other Lalita Pawar again.
