- An ad from 1980s for Push Button Telephone by Punjab Wireless Systems. It was a time when state owned MTNL only offered rotary dial phones.

Punjab Wireless Systems Limited was incorporated in 1975 and delisted from the Bombay Stock Exchange in 2002.

    oh I remember the first time we got one of these push button phones, was in early 90s I think that these started appearing

    Yes, MTNL started supplying push button phones with "connection" in the 90s...I guess in the 80s, push button were a luxury item.

    Old rotating dial telephones could be locked easily preventing 'misuse' from visiting relatives and friends. Push button telephones were not easily lockable...Still we had different design lock covers that would hide the Keypad...
