Great song! made my day. Thanks a lot for keeping them coming. And did you notice, as the song started, SUnil DUtt starts his jeep and leaves a big-hoarding called 'Mobilgas' in the background.
ReplyDeleteI googled and found this old Mobilgas ad http://www.adclassix.com/ads2/50mobilgas.htm which is also an ad from the 50's (like this song).
Nice catch and thanks for all that extra info.
ReplyDeleteThis song is from which movie? I have one curiosity... was this song really composed in India or is it an old english song pirated overe here?
ReplyDeleteIt's original song from a Hindi film done in Elvis style.
ReplyDeleteMore info on the song by my learned friend Rajesh Devraj:
ReplyDelete"the song here is 'beautiful baby of broadway", but on the soundtrack for the film (Ek Phool Char Kaante), it turns up with modified lyrics as 'Bombshell Baby of Bombay", music credited to Shankar-Jaikishen. Iqbal Singh was a naval ensign who used to perform occasionally in Bombay clubs in the '60s. You can find the OST track on the compilation 'Bombshell Baby of Bombay' issued by Bombay Connection."
Varun,
ReplyDeletea big thanks to Rajesh Devraj and you for the info on Iqbal Singh.
And I also noticed that the song is listed as 'Bombshell Baby of Bombay' at earthmusic.net. But I though it was some sort of mix up.
That was quite an info ! Thanks Vinayak, Varun and Rajesh Devraj :)
