Ah! So that's what the ribbons were doing in the dandiya song in Sikandar :-) They look like a Maypole, but I had no idea where it originated (although I did know that Dandiya Raas is a Gujurati thing, yes?)...
ReplyDeleteHey Memsaab, yes it's a Gujurati thing but now popular almost all over India specially Maharashtra. It's a specially marked event in the social calender of colleges.
ReplyDeleteGarbha dance has a number of formats based on who performs it and how. I am not sure but the girls in this.
I will have to check Sikandar to see how they do it in that old film :)
