Idol factory

The end product is supposed to look something like this - Durga, the goddess who rides Lion (or tiger).
















But here the goddess (or is that a god) is sitting on an Elephant. That could mean the deity is either Indra or Laxmi. Chances of that are bleak.

The deity here could simply be riding the Elephant of Mayawati's BSP.

    The god riding an elephant would be Vishwakarma, the god of architecture and engineering.

    Thanks Soumyadip! I think you are right. Those idols may well be Vishwakarma [A BBC pic]

    Vishwakarma Puja is usually held in September...guess the factory must be doing good.

    I thought up of that BSP angle because last year(2008) BSP had used idols of Durga in which she was an riding elephant.
