Around two years ago I took this photograph of Baglihar Dam on Chenab River while on way to Kashmir. While writing a post on it for my Kashmir blog i realized that the wiki entry for this Dam had no image, so I uploaded the image to wiki with a creative common license  which basically means  - you are free to reuse it, but give credit.

Last week I got a 'thank you' email from someone with World Watch Institute. Apparently they picked up this photograph from Wikipedia and published it to their magazine (May-June issue) alongside a story on 'water challenges in Asia'. Not only they gave credit and notified me about the usage, they also send me a free pdf copy of the issue that normally cost around $6. How about that!

Adding Facebook 'Like' button to Blogger (It's working!)

 Finally managed to make the newly launched Facebook 'Like' button work with Blogger.
The thing wasn't plain easy so thought of sharing the procedure that worked or me. Following code is an
upgrade on the great hack provided by devfuel .

Steps.

In the Dashboard, goto Edit HTML

First and the most important step: Backup your template by clicking Download Full Template.

Now,Click the Expand Widget Templates

Like me if you want to have 'Like' button for individual posts

Use your Browser's search feature (Ctrl+F) to find the following line of code(or similar code line):

<b:if cond="data:post.url"></b:if>

and just after it put the following code (the actual facebook iframe code with the hack)

<iframe allowTransparency='true' expr:src='"http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" + data:post.url + "&amp;layout=standard&amp;show-faces=true&amp;width=450&amp;height=25&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light"' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:25px'/>

Save. And done. That should do the trick. Hope that helps.

As the opening credits start rolling, the camera, maybe of a visitor, catches the usual sights of Delhi. But then the film is about music. We hear the sounds. The usual sounds of Delhi. Buses honking, deep hum of trucks, musical horns cutting wind, the steel buzz of autos, the rush of a passing car, the slow turning of a cycle rickshaw, a train, a car stuck at a red light, screaming, people shouting, laughs, radio playing an old melody, street vendors and their business hymns. Someone beating on a metal sheet. The general noise of Delhi. But then as the credits reach the end, you start to realize that the heart of this noise is now slowly beating to a rhythm. The noise starts to fade in with the music. The music of Indian Ocean. We hear the band jamming in an old decrepit house at Karol Bagh. Their pad. A house that once housed Faiz.
